About Me

Hi, I’m Riscann — a Certified Canine Bodyworker (CCBW) with a background in human massage therapy and healthcare. I’ve spent years working hands-on with bodies, learning how movement, compensation, and thoughtful preventative care shape long-term well-being.

Long before I had formal training, animals were always where I felt most at home. I was the kid bringing home injured birds, stray cats, and “temporary” fosters that rarely stayed temporary. I volunteered whenever I could, worked in a dog daycare, and sought out opportunities to support animals in any way I was allowed. Even now, wherever we travel abroad, I make time to volunteer with local shelters — because giving back has always felt like part of the responsibility of loving animals.

Today, my life revolves around my dogs. Annie, my golden retriever, is an accomplished sport dog who thrives on movement, challenge, and connection. Training and competing with her has given me a deep appreciation for athletic bodies — how much they give, how quietly they compensate, and how important recovery and maintenance truly are. I’m endlessly proud of what she’s achieved, but even more proud of the partnership we’ve built.

Alongside Annie is Sadie, my senior chihuahua, who reminds me daily that aging deserves just as much intention as performance. Through her, I see how comfort, regulation, and gentle consistency can transform quality of life.

Working with my own dogs — across life stages, personalities, and needs — made one thing clear: bodywork isn’t an extra. It’s foundational. It supports movement, nervous system regulation, resilience, and longevity. It helps dogs stay comfortable in their bodies so they can keep doing what they love, for as long as possible.

Summit + Sage exists because of them — and because I believe dogs deserve care that is thoughtful, individualized, and rooted in respect for who they are.

Why Summit + Sage

The name Summit + Sage reflects how I approach canine wellness.

Summit represents my belief that every dog deserves the opportunity to reach their highest potential — whether that means peak athletic performance, comfortable aging, or simply moving through life with ease. It’s about longevity, resilience, and supporting the body through every stage.

Sage speaks to wisdom, grounding, and thoughtful care. It reflects a calm, observant approach to bodywork — listening first, adapting always, and working with the dog in front of me rather than forcing a predetermined outcome.

Together, Summit + Sage represents balanced, intentional care — where science, intuition, and respect for the dog meet.

Meet the Girls

Belle

Belle was my first chihuahua, and the dog who quietly changed everything. Diagnosed with oral cancer at fifteen, she taught me what it means to support a body with compassion and intention. Through holistic care, hands-on support, and listening to what her body needed, she lived nearly two more years comfortable, present, and fully herself. Belle showed me that quality of life matters — always.

Sadie

Sadie, my senior chihuahua, represents everything I believe about aging with dignity. She’s sensitive, particular, and deeply expressive. Through her, I see daily how nervous system regulation, comfort, and gentle consistency can transform the experience of growing older. Sadie reminds me that bodywork isn’t about fixing — it’s about honoring where a dog is right now.

Annie

Annie, my golden retriever, challenged me early. As a puppy, she developed severe allergies, and conventional options offered only short-term fixes. A holistic approach — addressing diet, environment, and stress — changed her trajectory completely. Annie is my athlete, my teacher in resilience, and my reminder that the body often heals best when we stop forcing and start supporting.

What I Believe

Bodywork should be part of every dog’s wellness routine — not something we turn to only when there’s already a problem. I believe in catching small things before they become big things. Supporting soundness before injury. Maintaining comfort before pain sets in.

I believe dogs deserve to be seen as whole beings — body, mind, and spirit. And I believe wellness looks different for every dog. There’s no one-size-fits-all. Only what your dog needs, right now.

If this approach resonates with you and your dog, I’d love to work together!
